17 Simple Christmas Gifts for Mom She'll Love

melaniedj • Nov 25, 2019

Mothers deserve the world, but sometimes it can be hard to find gifts for mom!

It never fails every year I set out with the best intentions of shopping early for parents, and end up sitting at our kitchen table a week before Christmas trying to figure out what the heck to get my mom and dad that will show them how much they mean to me.

I've learned that you don't have to get the most unique, sentimental gift to show your loved ones that you love them.

In fact, you shouldn't feel like you have to get them anything to show them you love them.

I'm not saying it's bad to spend a lot of time thinking and choosing a gift for your loved one, because some of you are gifted (no pun intended) in that department!

I most certainly am not. If you aren't either, just remember that the most meaningful gift you can give someone is your presence in their lives and your love!

In this post I'd like to share some gift ideas for YOUR mom or just a special lady in your life.

Here's my special mama and I at my baby shower for our first little babe!

Now that I'm a mother myself, I have more respect and admiration for mom than I ever have in my life!

It's no job for the faint of heart!

Don't be afraid to spoil the mom in your life, as long as it's in the budget!

OTHER SHOPPING TIPS

STICK TO A BUDGET

Your best defense against overspending while shopping for gifts is having a plan, in other words, a BUDGET.

If you aren't already on a budget, now is a great time to start !

Here's how you can quickly create a budget for Christmas.

  1. Plan how much you'll spend this year. Determine what you can afford, and do not use a credit card to make up the difference.
  2. Create a Christmas sinking fund. How much have you saved already? How much do you have left to go? Every week add to your fund until your goal is met.
  3. Use cash envelopes while shopping.
  4. Track your spending as you go!

A budget gives you permission to spend money without guilt, because you already have the money saved!

In other words, you live off of last months income, not this weeks paycheck.

USE CASH INSTEAD OF A CREDIT CARD

All that holly jolly can do a lot of damage if you're putting everything on a credit card.

Don't let this years expenses follow you into next year!

No, I don't care about all the cash back you'll be missing out on.

Studies show you actually spend MORE with a credit card than with cash, so stick to the real stuff and there's your cash back.

Plus, you can get cash back without a credit card by using Rakuten while shopping online and in store (use the app)!

They offer double cash back at TONS of stores during the holidays!

Be sure to use cash envelopes to keep your spending on track during the holidays!

REMEMBER...

This holiday season, everywhere you go you will be bombarded with messages from advertisers telling you what you "need" to get in order to make your loved ones feel special.

Don't fall for the trap.

The only thing you need to do this Christmas to show your loved ones how much they mean to you is be present. Stop scrolling. Put your phone down.

Remember to be thankful for what God has already blessed you with.
