How to Let Go of Money Stress and Anxiety

1. Have a Fully Funded Emergency Fund

When you have money set aside for a rainy day, you can have piece of mind that you can weather a financial storm.

Are you one paycheck away from not being able to pay your mortgage or repair your car that broke down?

The best way to weather a financial storm is to have an emergency fund set in place.

2. Have a Plan

Living on a monthly budget alleviates financial stress, because you are giving yourself permission to spend money that has been purposefully set aside.

When most people think of budgets they think of words like restricting, time-consuming, and for nerds.

Please believe me when I say that couldn't be further from the truth!

Our monthly budget now takes me only fifteen minutes to make every month, and about five minutes a day to track our spending.

ANYONE can learn to budget. I am a CPA, so while I am considered "good with numbers", I have many coworkers who are good at giving others financial advice, but are terrible accountants for themselves.

I want you to know that you can learn to budget, and you can grab hold of your finances, no matter how messy they are!

To get started, I've created some easy-to-use budget templates!

You can get these in my budget bundle , which includes 40+ pages of financial templates.

A budget is nothing to fear- it is simply a PLAN for your money.

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

If your goal is to stop stressing about money all the time, then you need a budget, a plan.

If you want a simple, free monthly budget template to get started, if you subscribe below I'll send you one for free!

3. Get Rid of Your Credit Cards

If you find yourself constantly stressed about money and you have credit cards that constantly carry a balance, you need to get rid of them.

If you are constantly worried about money and have credit card debt, don't scratch your head and wonder what your problem is.

BUT.... I need one in case of an emergency. BUT... I actually EARN money! WAIT... How can we take vacations?

In my opinion, there is no positive side to credit card use.

I do believe there are people who use credit cards who manage their money well. However, I think if they were honest with themselves they'd find that they spend more money with a card than they do with cash.

I even admit this with debit card use. I spend more when I use my debit card than when I use cash.

Research has proven over and over again that you are not beating the credit card companies with your rewards.

Steer clear of credit cards. They only put the temptation to live above your means in closer reach.

4. Stop Scrolling

Stop comparing your car, house, concealer, and kids to Pam next door. You don't know if Pam is broke or not.

It is probably the easiest it has ever been to create false picture of wealth despite being broke.

If you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others (guilty!), just remind yourself that you don't see the whole picture. You don't have access to behind the scenes.

Statistics show that person that you're comparing yourself to on social media is probably swimming in debt just to create the illusion that they are wealthy.

Don't try to prove yourself to anyone.

Some of the wealthiest people have the most modest houses, vehicles, and possessions.

Comparing myself to others is still a struggle of mine, but I am SO much happier if I mind my own business.

5. Invest in Education

The most important things you will ever learn are not taught in the classroom.

I didn't learn what I know about personal finance from sitting behind a desk for six hours a day.

Instead, I bought books. I listen to podcasts. I watch YouTube videos.

Don't blindly follow the rest of Americans. Most of Americans are broke!

It's up to you to decide how you want to live.

6. Talk to Your Spouse

If you are married, don't fight your money battles alone. If you do, you will find yourself in a lot of money fights that you don't have the energy to show up to.

The number one cause of divorce is money fights.

Knowing this, you should do everything you can to rid your marriage of financial duress, not only to live financially free, but to protect your marriage!

If you never talk about money, it will come up sooner or later, and in the form of a fight - not a discussion.

Let your spouse know how you're feeling, that you want to make a change, and ask how they feel about your financial situation.

It takes two to make it work!

7. Get Out of the Paycheck to Paycheck Cycle

Make the choice to stop living paycheck to paycheck. It starts with a decision, followed by massive action.

Absolutely everyone in the world has the opportunity to be financially free.

One of the best parts of being financially free is breaking the paycheck to paycheck cycle!

If you are one paycheck away from financial ruin, you NEED to change your money habits. You NEED to make a choice.

Not tomorrow, TODAY. Decide that the cycle ends today.
