Contentment in a World of Consumerism
Be Focused on the Future
Make Lifestyle Sacrifices
Stop Complaining
Don't sit around and admire the problem.
Practice Thankfulness
Eliminate Excess
Don't Compare
- Find a Source of Encouragement- Follow people who not only inspire you, but who are transparent about their life. Of course no one wants to broadcast their failures on social media, but follow people or read books from authors who are real about their life and struggles.
- Unfollow People On Social Media - I realize this sounds harsh, but sometimes this is what it takes. If you have become so enthralled with other peoples lives and it's seriously damaging your own, unfollow people who try and portray and inaccurate picture of themselves and their lives. Or, take a break from social media and deactivate your accounts for a while.
- Mind Your Own Business - It's really hard to find time to swoon over other peoples lives when you are focused on improving your own. Use diligence as a distraction. Every time I think about logging on Facebook, I try to pull out my Bible and read a few passages instead!
Ambition & Contentment
Be content with what you have, but be driven to go further than where you are.
Remember That Money is Only a Tool
Be rich in contentment.
